Is it possible to create a shader that emits light into the world?
I've been looking at the self-illuminating shaders, but they seem to only emit light onto their own textures. Is there any way to have a shader emit light into the whole world?
Imagine the suits from Tron: Legacy. The light coming from their outfits also illuminated the area around them.
Is this possible?
If you use a post process of Glow/Bloom, self illu$$anonymous$$ated shaders glow out smoothly like lightsabers, neon glows, etc.
If you're talking about objects that don't move then setting the intensity level of self-lit shaders will light the scene in a lightmap bake. To put it another way, lightmapping stuff looks awesome, but lightmaps are not dynamic. You'll need pixel lights for that, and they're nowhere near as awesome looking as what you're probably imagining.
