How to move a character with a Mobile Joystick?

Hello all!

I have been looking everywhere for a way to attach my joystick to my character for an android game I've been working on. It's the final piece to my puzzle.

I managed to get the joystick working by itself, as in i can move it when I press play, but, it doesn't move the character.

I was wondering how i'd be able to attach the joystick to my character so i'd be able to move it...

I have been looking at the tutorial at this link http://imakeinternet.com/unity-2d-mobile-joystick-tutorial/ but think it might be a little outdated and that's why it hasn't been working.

Would anyone happen to have a script or something I could use as a JoystickInput that would work in unity 5.0 like the one in the tutorial mentioned above? Any help is appreciated...
