uGUI: Choose parent for anchors

Is there a way to choose another parent than the parent in the scene hierarchy as the anchored parent? I'm using NGUI right now and in NGUI you can choose a parent for each anchor. That's one of the few advantages in NGUI over uGUI. (Btw I know I could do that in a script, but I would like to be able to do that in the editor).

If that's not possible right now, is it planned to be in the release version?

What do you mean by changing the parent? It is possible to move the UI element to be a child of another object as long as there is a canvas somewhere above in the hierarchy. I must be misunderstanding something.
