Question by Colby314 · Jun 28, 2020 at 07:19 PM · licensingcommercial

Can I make and sell commercial games if I click "I don't use Unity in a professional capacity"?

I'm going to be creating games for multiple platforms with Unity Personal. Upon downloading, there was a prompt with multiple options including "I don't use Unity in a professional capacity". I do have a job, but my job has nothing to do with game development in any way. I'm going to be creating my games by myself. (or potentially with one other person who's job also has nothing to do with game development). I am going to be making and selling my games for income, but if I click "I don't use Unity in a professional capacity", can I still make and sell commercial games for money?

You can use Unity Personal even for making and selling commercial games if your revenue or funding (from your game) is less than $200K in the last 12 months. Otherwise, you are required to use Pro or Enterprise.

This doesn't really answer the question.

Yes it does? If you have $200k in funding/revenue from the game in the last 12 months then no. If you don't, then yes. @Colby314

@austingilchristthomas Ok, but does that include if I choose the licensing option within Unity that states "I don't use Unity in a professional capacity"? It implies that you wouldn't be making commercial games and getting money from them.
