Timing with a Particle effect

I'm breaking into particles and having a blast but running into a few road blocks already.

I'm trying to great a single lightning bolt strike that is large and hits the surface, then have the particle emitter wait a few seconds (5-10 seconds lets say) before doing it again.

Can I pull this off through burst? Or is this something I have to script in? I can't seem to get a solid grasp on duration, delay, lifetime xD Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

Just a big ole ZAP! then it repeats several seconds later.

I have been trying to find an answer for this for about 6 months and still cant figure it out...

ok, I literaly just figured it out you dont need bursts, you only need to look at rate of time.

Hover the mouse over rate of time and it will say amount of particles persecond, so if you want to have lightning strike every 5 seconds, you set that number to 0.2

Il explain With big amounts of particles, it is all good and simple, but becomes complicated when dealing with a small number of particles.

Basicly, if you want a particle to start every X second, you divide 1/x=imput value

So every 5 seconds, it is 1/5=0.2 every 10 seconds is 1/10=0.1

I still find it interesting, why they could not implement, how often to spawn a particle, ins$$anonymous$$d of how many per second...
