Particle Systems slowing game down too much.
I'm making an Asteroids replica, and when you blow up the asteroids, it instantiates a particle explosions from the standard assets. It's modified a bit; the fire effects are removed entirely and all the particles expand in every direction instead of being affected by gravity. Each particle in the prefab starts with 1000 max particles, I have them set down to 10, but every time I hit one, the game lags up until the particles disappear. It slows down a lot, like everything moves half as fast as before.
I find it really confusing though, because my Gaming laptop plays Fallout 4 on Ultra settings at 60 fps, which is the most demanding game I've played, but I'm sure it can do even more, yet it can't handle these little smoke particles?
Is there anything I can do to make this not happen? It's not just in Unity that it happens, I even made a test build.
I had the biggest fps impact once due to particle with collision enabled. Especially when the particle are spawned inside a collider.
And, did you change the particle emission rate value to 10 or the max particles value?
