How to cut 3DS Max objects in Unity?
I made a cylinder with a chain of bones going down the center to imitate the bending of a string. For my 3D game I need to be able to slice the string at any point along it and have it get cut into two pieces. I looked up how to cut objects in Unity on Google, which linked to multiple forum posts. But they only talk about cutting meshes and I didn't know if they would work with 3DS Max objects. There are scripts in the Unity Asset Store but again I don't know if they'd work with 3DS Max objects and I don't want to risk that. I appreciate your help.
What is a 3DS $$anonymous$$ax Object? If it has a mesh, then there is no reason why you couldn't use those mesh cutting methods you found.
