Fallout shelter rooms
How would you make a game with rooms like Fallout Shelter. It seems 2D but the room "change" depending on the camera.
How is it done?
Do you have a video or a reference to share? Looks like old fashioned 3D to me.
Yup. Flat 2D paper doll character in full 3D environment. When you zoom all the way out it seems to snap to an orthographic camera with such settings that the transition almost seamless but you lose the 3D effect.

You can change the camera type at runtime if you change it's projectionMatrix. You can lerp from perspective to orthographic projections depending on the "zoom" level (distance between camera and a plane).
Search that on google, there are a lot of answers here and on the forum.
