How do i make a room to walk in and out of? any Help would be nice
Yea bascialy I understand the Engine fine but I cant seem to figure out how to make a Room to walk in and out of. Any Help would be great
You're going to have to be a lot more specific if you want a decent answer... What kind of room do you want, what kind of game is it for? etc... In general, you'd create a room by making a box out of planes, rotating each plane and placing it to make a box. If you wanted to make a doorway in that room, on one of the walls you'd have to use three planes to make the walls around the doorway; one on each side of the doorway, and one above the doorway
And in addition to the above - if you want to make something more "impressive" (chairs, decorations, etc) then you'll need to import models from external graphics programs such as Blender, $$anonymous$$aya etc and place them in the scene
In addition to the above, you need at least a collider on the floor (and walls to if you don't want to ghost through them), and a character controller (like the FPS prefab). Check the list of what rededitor exports to see if any are on the list of what Unity imports. And Blender rocks, get into that.

Unity is much more than a modding system for a single game - it is a full-fledged game engine which means it is general purpose. It doesn't have the concept of walls or floors or buildings or anything like that because it is not for a specific game. You can make an FPS, or a flight simulator, or Tetris or tic-tac-toe. But what is unique about Unity (AFAI$$anonymous$$) is that the Unity editor is just running the game engine itself, which means you can extend it to become a game specific or mod editor if you want. That is the real genius of Unity in my opinion.

I think the best you can do for do a game that is FPS, as I know so far if you want to do this kind of games really cool it would be very difficult it not only depends on the physics, colliders, character controller, etc... like you want to do for your rooms and all of that, those are the basics of the complex of this kind of games, what is really difficult is the programming because you need to learn codes that are really big and some hard to understand. The scripts that are common in Unity are JavaScript, C# and boo that you can find any kind of things you need to do in this page: http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/ScriptReference/MonoBehaviour.html#Overridable%20Functions0. Then, some things you will need to do this kind of games is creativity, because with this scripts or codes you will need to find how to make it work and implement your own ideas. You can also create your room in the modeling app of your choice, apply reversed normals so you see the materials when you're inside the mesh rather than out, and apply a mesh collider to the object. I don't know how well this would work in a practical application but it's possible to do it as I'm running about in a hollow cube at the moment.
