Hinge joint conveyor with no friction
Hi all,
I'm having some issues with a conveyor system I was planning to use as a tank track simulation.
I cannot get my conveyor to spin around with the rotating wheels for some reason, this looked like it might be a friction problem so I changed the physic material and upped the dynamic and static friction but with no avail.
The wheels do not have rigid bodies as they are parented to the tank's main body. They instead use a convex mesh collider and are rotated through code.
The tank tracks are made up of rigidbodies with hinge joints which are connected up together at runtime.
I have tried: - Changing the friction of the physic material on both the wheels and the tank tracks - Changing the mass scale and connected mass scale of the hinge joints - Changing the mass of the tank track rigidbody - Increasing the track tension - Various other methods but none that I have found work properly.
I would definitely prefer to use physics simulation over using something like a wheel collider as I want the end result to be the tank to be moved directionally via the track.
Any other methods or suggestions would also be appreciated here but ideally I want to get this way of doing it working.
Here is a gif of the problem. Thanks in advanced.
