Hiding/Overriding the Action/Navigation bar on Android?

Hi

A friend of mine tested my game for me on his Nexus 4, and he notified me that his action/navigation bar is active. As you can see it makes it so that the original screen resolution is calculated first, and therefore my GUI scales along that (Eg. in this picture 1280x720 or so) but then the bar takes up ~84 pixels in width and scoops everything to the side.

It certainly doesn't look like that when I just run in a resolution that is equivalent to if it didn't have the bar.

How would I go about disabling it?
