Realistic Burning Paper Effect

Hi. I need to make realistic burning paper effect in Unity. Can anybody help me to make it. Here is an example for what I exactly want to achieve: Creating Realistic Burning Paper Effect in Cinema 4d

Is there any asset that can make it or any other external tools.

Thanks.

I apologize for my co-mod, Jeff $$anonymous$$esselman. We see hundreds of annoying questions each day, that are just asking for ways to do whatever they want to accomplish, without ever showing that they've tried. It gets quite tiring.

Go look up custom shaders on Google, give it a shot, and if you still can't figure it out, come back with what you have and you will get more help.

Are you sure you need a highly realistic effect? In a game, you burn paper by making a puff of fire and having the paper wink out.

In general, if you see something in the advanced section of an image or modeling or movie program, then a game engine like Unity can't do it. Or, it could do it, but it's not worth the effort.

The effect of progressively turning from "normal" paper to "burnt" paper looks to be a modification of a "dissolve" shader to me, of which there are several on the asset store - or an example of the Unity wiki here: http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php?title=Dissolve_With_Texture

Combine this with a flame particle effect (there are some included in Unity if you import the Standard Assets -> Particles) at the boundary of where the paper changes and you should at least get a reasonable starting point.

You do not need (and have never needed) Unity Pro to create custom shaders. I suspect Jeff Kesselman is confusing shaders with image effects.

Since the article you referenced is a shader technique, you will have to make a custom shader in Unity3D. To do this you need pro and you need to know how to write shaders.

No, there is no "make me a burning paper" button you can press.

I thought, If there was an asset named Playmaker that make a game with a few clicks, also there could be an asset that is useful for making a burning paper effect.

So, let me edit the question. Is there any shader asset for making burning paper effect.

Note: I'm not talking about a button. But thanks for your answer, even though it is not kind one.

You do not need Unity Pro to write custom shaders. Only certain features are disabled in the free version, like RenderTextures, but it should be possible to make a burning paper shader within these limitations.

Ah thanks, they mustve changed that since I started using Unity.

And no. To my knowledge there is no out of the can burning paper shader for Unity.

I would see if you can find someone who knows how to write shaders to write it for you. Please do NOT go trolling for such a person in Answers. Thats not what Answers are for. Go to the forums or try your local Unity users's group or University.

What's your problem with you? Why don't you try to answer like D$$anonymous$$G?
