What is line endings policy settings? in MonoDevelop

Using MonoDevelop Unity

What is line endings policy settings? What it does and what to choose.

Sometimes I hit with the Mono message:

Has line endings which differ from the policy settings.*

And this question:

Do you want to convert the line endings?

I have to choose between "Convert", "Keep line ending", "Convert all files" or "Keep in all files"

What is line endings policy settings? and What to choose

In my case I'm using Windows 7 64 and my target market is Windows 7 64 for the moment; but later I will try more options.

A link to MonoDevelop documentation manual.

The issue is how different environments end lines. Unix and the $$anonymous$$ac use newlines. Windows uses newline/carriage return pairs. If you mix the two, line numbers in errors may be off. I sometimes have this problem moving files between Windows and $$anonymous$$ac...especially if the original code was not authored in $$anonymous$$onodevelop.

So there is no Duplicate Question. Unity provides $$anonymous$$ono but not $$anonymous$$ono support. The Answer could be Unix. Project->SourceCode->CodeFormatting->C# source code->TextStyle Line endings: Unix

Thanks Robert for the wikipedia link I'm pretty new at coding. I make my research in Google, Unity forum and other before i submitting the question here. I submit the question because as a beginner I hit to this problem often and I was surprised there is no simple info. I'm still looking for the manual of mono. Did not know how to manage it and there was a similar more specific question (link include) in this Unity Answers. I was hoping for a good simple answer from Unity community. Other beginners has the same problem and i was thinking is a unity policy settings problem rather c# mono problem. $$anonymous$$ind regards A$$anonymous$$
