Applying a texture to a non native game object
The object I made in Wings 3d has an UV texture that needs to be imported and I cant seem to find any tutorials or hints at all on how to make it work. I apply it to the game object and viola nothing happens. I've wasted an entire day trying to find an answer. Please help! Thank you very much.

Most likely you are adding the texture to the empty PARENT object, try selecting the base object and see if it has a child... as long as the object is unwrapped with a matching texture, just adding it should work!
(I am not familiar with wings3d, so I can't say if there are other tricks to export from there.. are you using FBX?)
No that isn't it. wings doesn't support FBX either. It's pretty finiky. It seems that when I try to put a texture on the object it just makes the entire thing one color.
