Android Gamepad/joystick mapping?

Guys, I wish to know what the D - pad is mapped to for Android.

I built a gamepad game for Blackberry and the d - pad horizontal is mapped to 6th axis and, d - pad vertical is mapped to 7th axis

But if I run the same build on android it doesnt seem to work.

I searched for any documentation but couldnt find any . Please let me know
