SteamVR, Multiple Cameras/Gameviews
Hello everyone, hope you are doing well
I am working on a VR experiment for my university, meant to judge how people perceive changes to environments in virtual space.
A little bit about our expirament. We have SteamVR, and an HTC-VIVE. We have set up an environment where the subject can look around through the HTC-VIVE.
Meanwhile, we the administrators, need to be able to move blocks and walls around. This is dependent on what the subject requests, so we have to be able to move it ourselves. We the administrators want to be able to control from the computer using mouse-click. Specifically, the admin view needs to be able to raycast click.
Thus, we require two cameras. One needs to be a stationary, overhead camera that the admins use , and camera for the first-person subject to work with the HTC-VIVE.
What we need to do is be able to control the environment from our computer, using the overhead view, while the subject looks through a different camera.
Originally, we tried just splitting the scene view to be the admin camera, with the HTC being the game view. However, Scene view does not allow us to raycast.
Thus, what we want to do is this: Create a SteamVR environment, where one cameras gameview comes to our computer, while the other gameview goes directly to the HYC-VIVE. Any sugestions on what would be the best methods to use?
Thank you
What you are trying to achieve is called asymmetrical gameplay. Here is a tutorial video you can use to get started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-W4QIuuzZ8
