Measuring objects in VR view

I have enjoyed being able to view imported 3D models in VR. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to measure distances on the objects as I view in VR. The files contain scale data and I can measure them when viewing the files in flat-screen view, but I want to be able to measure things as I explore the object in VR space. Any ideas?
