How to despawn from another script (PoolManager)

So I've run into an issue. I'm using the PoolManager plug-in and I'm able to spawn 5 enemy ships just fine. I use a script to spawn the ships and a different script to despawn the ships. Although when I try to despawn the ships from the other script, it doesn't work. I can despawn them from the script I spawn them from but I'm wondering why they aren't despawning from the other script since I can Instantiate and Destroy just fine using two scripts.
