First Person Controller won't mouse look (Sample Assets Beta)

I am following the merry fragmas fps tutorial on the unity website and have put in my character, but when i test it out i cannot look around with my mouse and can only move to the side or forward and backward. (I cannot Jump either). I have not edited the code and this is my first time with this problem. I have also tried the older first person character but that has not worked either. I have looked under input settings and that only changes physical movement, not looking. Please Help
