Audio playing unhearable sound

Ok heres the problem. I got an aoudiolistener and an audiosource Properly set up but when i play the sound it just makes some "mic turn on" noise and then its silent. Ive checked the soundmixer and the sound is playing, but i simply cant hear it. I can preview the sound just fine.

i've also experienced this issue, infact got it in my current project.

dont know why, checked everything i can think of:

distnace of audiosource to litener, the ranges of $$anonymous$$ and max of audiosource. amount of audiosources playing at a given time. it just will not play. or rather it may be playing as no error message displaying etc, but no sound.

Do what all the answers say, but also check that the sound doesn't cancel itself (mainly because the phase or some other thing that people who know about sound told me). You can do it by setting it to mono ins$$anonymous$$d of stereo. I experienced something similar a few months back: sound was ok in preview, everything was set properly (it even was a 2D sound), but sound didn't play (just some part of it). Turned out that the sound was cancelling itself when it was set to stereo.

Make sure your AudioSource is close to the AudioListener. If the AudioSource is too far away it will be very quiet.

If you want the sound to be heard from anywhere in the scene, go to the audio clip and uncheck the 3D sound box, and distance won't be a facter in hearing in playmode.
