FPS Deadzone aim
I'm trying to achieve effect of free-look aiming (with deadzone), which can be seen in games such as ARMA, or Red Orchestra. The result I am aiming for can be seen in this unfortunately anonymous prototype
My solution was to follow GUI cursor, that was moving inside a predefined deadzone box, but it was badly 'glued together' and quickly broke, when i was trying to proceed with recoil and so on.
I would be grateful if anybody could come up with some solution, or helpful tips.
I would also like to know a good way to achieve a dead-zone method of aim. Games of comparison: Operation Flashpoint, Armed assault, Red Orchestra, etc..
I guess for starters I am using a simple object LookAt mouse position approach, however, I am not sure how to place a clamp on the object's rotation within the dead-zone. Getting the main camera to only move when the weapon hits the dead-zone boundaries is another story.
