Ship ideas for model and collision please and thank you

I am trying to make a ship, well I have made one..

I brought it in through blender as seven different pieces that all have a mesh collider on them set to convex (as with the way I created my gravity script I would need to run them as such I believe (unity tells me so through error messages)). I have it in game and using my script fine, my question comes to more of a rigidbody on my character and my ship interacting with each other.

I eventually want the character to have to press e' etc. to fly the ship from the control area. However.. When I currently jump into the ship it jitters around quite a bit. Also, in space, the ship will shoot right off of me if I touch it. Is mass going to affect that from keeping the ship to behave as such?

Any ideas as to how I should control the two rigidbodies colliding with each other? I guess if the mass fixes the ship from popping around the character, then I'd just need to kill one controller when accessing the controlls and activate the other I'd assume. Let me know what your thoughts are if you've a moment, thanks in advance!

(I built my gravity because I wanted the player to be able to run around the entire planet, and not just fall down on Y, thus I couldn't use the regular controller etc, or so I figured at the time before I made it work. If more information is needed I can supply if need be.)
