Multiple Object LOD Problem during develpment
Hi there.
Im busy populating my game's terrain with lots of foliage, trees, even structures and architecture. All of which have the "LOD group" Componant attached too them, for optimizing purposes, however, ive come to realise that Unity is really poor at mid to later stages of Development where after populating your map/world, you simply cannot tweak the distances of LOD's of many multiples of Objects.
While playing the game, you may feel like certain types of objects arnt being rendered far enough, or close enough, dependant on your scene, and require tweaking so that the experience feels satisfying, and not constantly noticing the LOD's changing or disappearing and appearing, which can detract from the game itself.
So my question. Is there a way of changing many Object LOD Groups at once, to change the distances in Unity, or is it the realisation that the developer may well have to spend many hours, days, even weeks going through each and every Lod group of each object, to tweak them individually?
I know about the Copy and pasting of the componants values, however, that only cuts the job slightly, since you still have to delete the pasted componant Objects that become attached, only to drag in the objects you need.
Is there a script, or management system that resolves all of this? thank you,
I'm also having this issue. I downloaded a cityscape asset from the asset store and need to edit hundreds of LODGroup components. I could write a script to adjust these at runtime, but ideally I could make the changes once in the editor without going through each component and adjusting it by hand.
