How do you drag out a child object without dragging out the entire parent object it's attached to?

alt text When I try to drag out the blue banner labeled "Cylinder", it drags out the objects labeled "Tapistry_1A". How do I only drag out the blue banner labeled "Cylinder", not all the banners in Tapistry? (Referring to image below) Sorry if this was confusing! Thanks!
