How do I add Knockback when I touch my enemys

hey I need some help I'm trying to figure out how to knockback my character when they touch an enemy/ when they take damage (2d platformer game like when think of it like when you touch a goomba in new super Mario instead of shirking you get knocked away ) i'm been trying to figure this out for a while now and no luck
