live video broadcast of game host
hello! we are doing a party game where there is one game host and around 10 other players in the game room. we want to broadcast a live video of the game host and stream it to the 10 other players. we have already gotten the playback part down, so, for instance, we can project the streaming video (HLS for iOS, RTSP for android) of a live news station broadcast on a texture in a 3D scene. and my question is in regards to the video broadcast:
does anyone know of live video broadcast from unity being done in some game somewhere? if not, can it be done at all? if so, what do you good fellas think is the best approach?
i've been looking at live video broadcast SDKs such as wowza, nanostream, red5, oovoo, kickflip.io, etc etc. performance within a unity game is obviously a big concern, but thankfully the gamehost scene would only need to display a few control panel buttons, so that part shouldn't take much resources. but i'm unfortunately not very good at integrating native ios/android plugins, so those are all going to be time-consuming to test. i'm therefore coming to seek community wisdom in the hope that your valuable advice will help me be more efficient in my very time-consuming tests. many thanks in advance!
I am trying to do something similar, how did you get the RTSP playback working? Also, ever figure out how to do the broadcast? Hoping they will get at least the playback added in the video player: https://feedback.unity3d.com/suggestions/rtsp-video-playback
