I downloaded a project and my assets are Pink?!

alt text I downloaded a chess game project from unity and all of my prefabs show up pink. The program works (I can still move my soldiers) but i can't see them or the board. Does anyone know what can i do to fix it?

I think some of my materials are missing, but every time I re-download the program and open it in Unity they get deleted again. what can i do?
