How do I get a character to dig underground to another location and vice versa?

Hi, I'm trying to figure out a script as to how to make a playable character dig underground to another area and back, but I don't know how. I'm wondering if you can provide the answer or script for me so I can put it for the playable character. Also, I want the digging animation play as the character digs without destroying the terrain.
