Normal map export script on the wiki isn't quite working for me, can someone help me out?
So, I'm trying to use Unity to export a normal map, that it converted from a height map. I've tried alternative like CrazyBump and found they don't seem to work as well on sharp edges.
There's a little exporter script on the wiki for this: http://wiki.unity3d.com/index.php?title=ExportNormalmap And it runs fine with no errors, but for some reason the file it outputs is grayscale. It's not the same as the height map, it does have the edges all lit from an angle like a normal map would, but it's like it only exported one color channel or something. A normal map like the little thumbnail preview is what I want.
I saw that there was a previous question here where someone seemed to have this problem, but their solution was, "so before save open your texture changed to normal map check "Override for Standalone" and change max size to what you want and format to "Truecolor,"" but that's not an option in the dropdown menu. There is 'Automatic Truecolor' under the default tab? Anyway changing these settings doesn't seem to make a difference.
Anyone have any insights?
