Spotlight Perspective Bending Problem
I have an issue where a spotlight beam is not behaving naturally. My night scene has a flashlight that is about 10-20 feet to the camera's left with its axis parallel to the camera's axis, shining on some trees about 50 feet ahead. However, the end of the flashlight beam appears perfectly centered in the camera view instead of hitting trees to the left side of the screen. Moving the flashlight father away from the camera (while keeping it parallel) only changes the light near the flashlight, but the end of the beam of light is still centered.
I've tried changing the camera field of view and some of the other obvious settings, but nothing seems to fix this issue. I assume this is due to the perspective camera's vanishing point? I can see how this might happen in the classic "railroad tracks disappearing far into the distance" example, but I don't think this would happen with a flashlight shining only 50 feet ahead.
Any suggestions?
