Is this how you change animator's layer weight?

I have 2 layers. On my base layer I have 3 locomotion states Melee,Rifle,Pistol. My second layer is for controlling upperbody movement such as aiming and created an avatar mask. I want to go into the 'aiming' state when aim is pressed so I want to increase the second layer's weight to 1. Is this how you do it?

if(aiming) animator.SetLayerWeight(2, 1);
