VR Hand always gripping when using the HTC Vive Controller after using the Valve Knuckles
I came across this in the Interactions_Example scene that comes with the SteamVR Package. I loaded the scene and enabled my HTC Vive Controllers. Everything worked fine. After that, I turned off the HTC controllers and enabled my Valve Knuckles. Again, everything was fine. After this, I decided to go back to the HTC controllers. This time, both hands always displayed the gripping pose (thumb and index finger fully extended, middle, ring, and pinkie fully curled) by default. Funny enough, if I enable both Valve Knuckles, then disable one of them, and enable the corresponding HTC Vive controller, the hand will display the correct default pose. I need to create a new project from scratch and reimport SteamVR to get it working again.
My guess is that when I enabled the Valve Knuckles there was some reassignment of the bindings behind the scenes, which wasn't correctly restored when the HTC Vive Controllers are enabled. How can I troubleshoot/fix this?
