How can I directly distribute my game to alpha testers for PC?
I released my first major PC game a couple of weeks ago. For lack of a better option, I built it via WebGl, and you can play it directly on my website (thank you Unity for build flexibility!). But I want to take the next step and begin distributing it via a download link to the community. The problem is that they will need to download/install the game every 2 weeks, and if they forget to check the website, they will miss the latest version.
.
All of the answers/tools I have come across so far (Firebase, Unity Distribution Portal, etc.) seem to be Android-specific. How do I distribute my game for PC? I'm planning on entering Steam early access after a few more months of refinement, but I would prefer to distribute directly for the time being. What tools/tutorials exist out there that would enable me to be my own distributor? (Note: Unity Remote Config does look really cool, but I WILL be compiling new code into each new release, at least for a while, so that won't work for me from what I understand)

(The first answer I found to this question was from 2010. I think that things have changed a little bit in the decade since ;) )
So I realized that I should probably be using the phrase "game launcher" in my Google searches. Still haven't found a tutorial/example project for that, but hopefully I'll find one soon. If anyone has created a game launcher with auto-updates before, I'd love to hear how your update function worked.
