What firewall settings / user agent strings need to be enabled to use Unity #D through our corporte firewall? In particular to download assets / packages from the asset store?

This is an extremely low priority for Unity. I have been asking for help with this for several months. I added this as an issue and used all 10 of my "votes" to try to get some attention. Somehow I can no longer find my issue and my 10 votes have been returned. The workaround for Unity 4.6 was running from a BAT file with proxy and password info inside it, but this hasn't worked for me on any of the newer versions. My experience leads me to the answer "you can't."

@CarlB Hi there, I have been doing some development with Unity for around 8 Years now.

I have seen your posts quite a few times with the same issue.

Are you still having issues with this? If so, maybe have a look here: https://support.unity3d.com/hc/en-us/articles/206275643-Using-Unity-behind-a-proxy

Let me know if this helps?

@Dylan_CodeCabin Eventually, we had to make changes to our fire wall (what we were trying to avoid) and some sort of proxy change on my computer (the details of which I have now forgotten) that did allow Unity to function completely. Unfortunately those changes triggered connection and security problems in other applications and we had to unmake the changes. By this time, interest in Unity had waned. People were unimpressed because of the lack of progress creating anything useful, the amount of resources required to try to keep Unity updated and functioning within our infrastructure and the lack of support. The project was shelved. Very disappointing for me and something that I don't think looks very favorable on my record, since I was the one who suggested trying Unity in the first place. Ugh...

@CarlB I'm so sorry to hear of the issues you had with Unity, and sorry you did not get enough Unity support when you needed it.

Unfortunately there is always risk involved in using a technology that is still quite new when it comes to commercial use. I can't say I have had similar experiences.

I hope you haven't given up on Unity in your personal capacity, and I am sorry to hear of the backlash on your record that this must have had.

Hopefully you will be able to make a come-back in upco$$anonymous$$g projects!

All the best
