The problem has solved itself. Absolutely no clue how
,Error when trying to use SerialPort (the saga continues)
I've set Api Compatibility level to .NET 4.x, as recommended in the latest batch of answers to the SerialPort problems.
I'm past the "Are you missing an assembly reference" problem. Now I get:
The type name 'SerialPort' could not be found in the namespace 'System.IO.Ports'. This type has been forwarded to assembly 'System, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' Consider adding a reference to that assembly.
I'm not even sure what that means...
I've tried rebuilding/restarting unity and visual studio a few times. Nothing works.
Edit: I'm closing this. I have no clue how the problem solved itself, but it somehow did. Maybe it's thanks to the last point on the last comment here, although it didn't take when I rebuilt the project, and I'm fairly certain I deleted the file before restarting Unity or Visual Studio (I think I might've left the meta file. It's gone - not sure if it's because I deleted it or it was deleted automatically after I deleted the original). Maybe something in my latest attempt to build the project in Unity did the trick, Maybe it's because I tried attaching Visual Studio to unity, could be a combination of those or none of them.
Absolutely no clue.
