Playing umbrella opening animation backwards

I want to make an umbrella open and close. I can play the opening animation. But i want it so that if you let go (close the umbrella) before the "opening animation" is finished that it plays backwards from the frame it is at. Example, I start opening the umbrella, get to the 5th frame of 8. I close the umbrella at this frame, then it will play frame 4, then 3 and so on.

I have looked at other questions like this, but I can't seem to make them work. This is what others have said to other people: GetComponent()["openumbrella"].speed = -1f;

I'd be really happy if you could give me some help

Also my "animator" has stopped showing the flow of animations (what state it is on) but the animations still play as they should. I wonder if I broke it or I happend to disable it or something

A guy told me to use blend trees, and make each frame an animation, since you cant control what frames are played. You can control animations for example in a blend tree, making the frames be animations and from there controlling them, with an X value which increases if the left mouse button is pressed, and decreases if it is released.

Not sure if it works yet but it looks promising!!
