Is it safe to rename and move assets around to clean up my directory?
I have a very messy project and would like to rearrange and rename my imported assets that are currently used in game to just clean it up and give everything more logical names. Is this safe to do or are things tied to that name and directory and doing anything at this stage will brake the resource?

You can do that without any fear. Renaming or moving around will not do any harm. But be careful if you want to delete some asset.
