Unity MySQL database? Saving data to a database available to any player.
Dear Unity Community,
I'm working on a game where players can create objects, then play a game that spawns the objects they have created. Right now I'm saving data for the objects on the local host machine via binary formatter and persistent data path. However this means each player will only play with the objects that THEY have created. I would like for the game to be able to spawn objects that any player has created.
I don't want players to network and play the same game, but I want for their game to access the data for objects that all other players have created. Is there a way to create a common database of objects accessible from any game? I'm looking into mysql as a solution, but I feel like it's a bit overkill for what I'm trying to do.
Not sure I'm explaining myself. Any suggestions? Thanks!
P.S I'm new to posting so let me know if I need to provide more info!
