How to make this trail?

Hey everyone. I have a question about the player's trail in The king's bird

Parts of the trail that stay in the world seem to have different random lengths. Also, there are parts that only spawn on collision. How to make something like this? Is it made with particle trail? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. You can do this with a particle system that has the emmision set to RateOverDistance. This way, new particles are only spawned if you move. You can also do this with a particle trail. Here's a link to a youtube video: https://youtu.be/_TcEfIXpmRI
