Is Zwrite On or Depth Only Clear Faster on mobile devices?
In my app I have a fullscreen background sprite with a custom shader. Thinking of trying one of these:
A. Draw a background sprite with custom shader set to ZWrite On with Camera Clear Flags set to "Don't Clear"
or
B. Draw a background sprite with custom shader set to ZWrite Off with Camera Clear Flags set to "Depth Only"
In both cases the background is rendered with Tags { "Queue" = "Background" } so it renders first and uses ZTest Always.
Which one is likely to perform better on retina iPad GPUs and devices that often are fill-rate bound? Polling around to see people's experiences.
