How not to show ads to paid customers when game became free in update?
I am planning to publish a paid game. After a while i will update the game as free and will start showing ads. But i do not want my first paid customers to see the ads after installing update? is it possible?
This will depend upon the options offered by the vendor / distributor.
Yes, you could write logic which satisfies your request, however, any such "grandfather clause" logic will be undone if the paying customer deletes and re-downloads the updated version, downloads it to another device with their vendor account, purges the registry entries for the program (where any local record would be kept), etc.
You could use a traditional serial key method, lean on the DR$$anonymous$$ solutions offered by the vendor(s), or only vend through your own website and thus have absolute authority over what kinds of records are kept. In any case, communication with the vendor's - or your personal - record-keeping API seems to be essential.
This is relatively easy to script, but in the illustrated scenarios, all of your client-side-only logic becomes meaningless. This is fundamentally a question to ask the vendor(s).
