Can't "Add Property" to animation!
Hi there.
I'm currently trying to add a property under the animation tab. I can see the avatar and items in the project that I am working on, and I can interact with them too.
However, every time I attempt to add a property on my avatar under the Animation tab, it simply does nothing.
I can add properties to items outside the avatar's hierarchy, but the moment I drag something into the avatar's hierarchy, it just won't add the property.
I have uploaded an example of my issue on this website, so that you may understand my problem better: https://i.imgur.com/5klQ9Uk.mp4

if the animation you're trying to add the property for is an imported one, you'll have to add it in the import settings for the animation of the model.
The animation is entirely made by myself, so the issue I have is not related to import settings.
Whats your unity version, are you on the latest stable version?
I am currently using the 5.6.3p1 version, it should be the newest according to Unity's website.
That is not the newest version, thats an old one. The latest stable version is 2017.3.1f1. A 2018 version is already on development. Try installing the latest version.
I'm creating my stuff mostly for VRChat which requires the 5.6.3p1 version specifically (sorry, I should have mentioned that earlier).
Regardless, I seem to be the only one wth this issue in the 5.6.3p1 version, this version seems to work for everyone else.
I've been trying to narrow what the cause behind this problem could be, and it seems like that it's only when I assign the item under the very bottom of my character's hierarchy that it refuses to do anything.
I can put the item on the forearms, shoulders, chest etc. without any problems, but the moment I assign the item under the hierarchy with the individual fingers, the hand, that it doesn't do anything.

finally i found someone else with this problem! hopefully a a fix comes around soon!
I solved the issue, and I hope the answer helps you too:
I had put a "/" character inside the names for the specific parts. You can see what I mean in the gif (Look for the Left Wrist/Hand part).
I simply renamed the parts to Left Hand and Right Hand, and that seems to solve the issue.
Hope this helps you too!
