Digital Molecular Matter Physics?

Anyone know if there is a Unity plugin that does something like that? I've seen one for explosions, but it really only strips a 3D Model into individual triangles (so things end up looking like they're made out of very stiff paper).
I ask mostly out of curiosity rather than actually needing it.
I'm not sure but I would try modelling those parts in a 3d modelling software and put them together then export. So that in Unity I can detach those children objects and apply physics on collision.
I don't think that would have the right effect, as you couldn't have groups of them act as a solid mass properly; the entire object would sort of disitigrate into gravel when struck, rather than blowing holes in it.
It's a good thought, though.
