A bridge-builder-type car editor?
I have started working on a car game with buggies, because I think they're pretty cool. I have an idea: a 3D-bridge builder-like car editor. (You can play an online 2D-version here)
You can probably imagine: buggies are made of pipes and metal plates, where the pipes would be the lines that the bridges are made of, the points where the pipes cross are the joints, etc.
So, my question is: How to do this? I don't need code, but I would be very thankful if you would give some ideas or examples of how to implement this. I am pretty new to programming so this may be a stupid question. Thank you!
Hi! Just to clarify, you want the cars to be buildable, not bridges (and only mention bridges as analogy), right? So as a result, something like Scrap $$anonymous$$echanic? For this, a good start would be to educate yourself on Rigidbodies and Joints. Afterwards, you would need to conceptualize an app that would expose these to the user in custom buildable way, and you also need to decide on a medium (e.g. VR or $$anonymous$$obile or PC).
Yes, scrap mechanic looks something what I imagined, but I want the editor to look like the editor in poly bridge, like it generates a 3D model from the stuff you make in the 2D editor. I have experimented with joints but I have no idea how to do stuff with them in the code. (Also English is not my native language, so sorry if my English is bad or you can't understand it)
