What is the most efficient way to make a tilemap?
I'm finding quite a few different answers online.
Basically imagine games like Rimworld and Factorio. I'd like a tilemap with blending tiles that can be large (even infinite) and can be zoomed out quite far without a huge performance impact (again, for zoom, imagine those two games)
So, is it:
Individual tiles?
large tiles that have a texture generated?
large tiles with UVs that get updated?
large tiles that somehow get 100's of possible tile textures added via shaders?
not individual or large tiles but something else?
