Help with acceleration on a grid
I'm trying to create grid-based movement for my player, and the basic linear type movement works well, but seems too clunky and isn't the most responsive when attempting to change direction so I was thinking of having the player accelerate to a max speed, travel for some time, and then decelerate, stopping on the grid position to make it look smoother. But don't know how to tackle the problem. I assume I'd have an acceleration, movement, and deceleration function but I don't know much else. Looking at lerp, slerp, smoothstep etc has just confused me and I'd like a simple straightforward solution.
