Question by nyonge · Oct 24, 2015 at 01:45 PM · editorscenesnappinglevel-designedit

Stop Unity snap settings rounding to nearest hundred

In Edit > Snap Settings, I've set the X,Y, and Z position snap settings to 0.125, which is what I use for my level design (0.25 is slightly too big). However, it always rounds to the nearest hundred, so snapping to 0.125 becomes 0.13. After dragging around for awhile in scene view, these small errors lead up to big position offsets and really ugly exposed edges.

Any ideas how I can get it to accurately snap to 0.125 units? Thanks!

Same issue here. Appears to only happen when you aren't zoomed in.

I'm using 0.0625 as the ctrl increment snap and it always ends up rounding while zoomed out more than a few units.

Such a pain, would love a fix or workaround.

Hi, I was just suffering with this same issue. I have a partial fix that is working at the moment for me. I stopped using Ctrl/Cmd to move things. Instead, I turned on "Grid Snapping' and set 'Toggle Tool Handle Position' to 'Pivot'. For the most part it works but you still have to be careful. When zoomed out far, it still goes to the wrong spot at times. If it is wrong then zoom in and move it slightly and it'll pop right into the spot you want. It's not perfect but it works For Example: My increment snap was originally .075 on X and .125 on Z. So I changed the grid visuals to .075 on X and .125 on Z in the grid and snap settings. (Without holding Ctrl or Cmd) I'm able to move large chunks of objects around the screen that snapped pretty close. Then I zoom in and pop it properly to the exact place.
