Can retargeted mecanim-style animation clips be used with legacy Animation system?
I want to use the ability to break animations into smaller clips and some of the smooth stock animations from the Mecanim demo, but I don't really want to rewrite my working player controller to use Unity (I've been working on it and it's taking days) - then it occurred to me maybe I can just use the clips with the old system. At first it seems like I can - it allows me to drag and drop the clips into the Animation - but then when I run I get:
"The animation state Idle could not be played because it couldn't be found! Please attach an animation clip with the name 'Idle' or call this function only for existing animations."
I assume this is because mecanim clips were never intended for this, but maybe I'm making some other mistake?
Hi, I am having similar issues. I want to use the animation clips from the $$anonymous$$ecanim starter kit but with the old Animation component and a basic script. I can add the $$anonymous$$ecanim clips to the Animation component but when I hit play I get an error message that it can't find my clip. I get the same error message if i use a script to play the animation clip. I don't know the answer....
