Does Unity 5 support a 2D top-down view?
Does Unity 5 support a top-down view of the X-Z plane to accommodate RTS's, MOBA's, or 2D RPG's?
I'm not concerned with the 2D physics being supported, but what about default sprite placement and such?

The answer is still the same: 2D is in the X-Y plane, but that doesn't prevent you from implementing the genres you listed.
Thanks Eric, the reason I was asking is that some assets seem to provide behavior for the X-Z plane and not the X-Y plane. We are pretty early in development, so if Unity did support 2D on the X-Z plane in an easyish fashion we could probably move over to that with only a couple days of work.
That pedantry is not really helpful, nor applicable here.

That's not a top-down view of the X-Z plane. That's a sideways view of the X-Y plane.
