Newbie question about infinite runners

I was watching the LMG: Infinite runner from 2014 and it was on Unity 4.3. I'm new to unity so just wondering if all the scripts and such are still accurate in terms of if it is still usable. Also the sample assets used in the video is from Standard Assets(Beta), and now in the store there is only Standard Assets for Unity 4.6 and Standard Assets; is there any major importance as to which I use?
